Kraft actually does something funny, idiots eff it up

Published December 23rd, 2009   |  2 Comments

Advertising Age has a write up this morning about a specialized advertising piece that Kraft had in it’s lobby for a bit that was shockingly enough, actually quite funny (link).  Then of course, the world got a hold of it and had to screw it up for the rest of us by bitching about the joke online.

The joke was that the ad was on a mirror and the copy read, “You look smashing, but your chicken breasts could use a lift” and then it had the logo and product shot for Kraft’s Shake N Bake product.  Get it?  Yeah, neither did a lot of people online.

One comment that some idiot made online that Ad Age reprinted was, “perhaps those with chicken breasts are offended?”  For fuck sake lady, you don’t have chicken breasts on your body, you have them at home. This isn’t a personal attack, the magic mirror doesn’t know you’re past your prime, it’s just a mirror.  Sheesh, sounds like something a friend of mine’s mother would say (not mine, my mother is hip is hell and would laugh her ass off at that).

I guess the big debate online was that people need to get a sense of humor.  Nay, I say, people need to smarten the hell up and realize that jokes are just jokes.  I dated a chick for awhile that would drive me crazy because she was laugh all day at my jokes, until one hit a nerve and then suddenly it wasn’t a joke anymore, it was a personal attack.  Nope, still a joke, honey.  Turns out, it wasn’t just that chick, it’s a big part of the mid-west. Awesome.

Thankfully they weren't also advocating shake & bake for rabbit or those 'Hare” lip people would fly off the handle!
