That’s kinda effed up Nolan’s Cheddar; funny, but effed up…

Published January 26th, 2010

Thanks to reader Erik, I won’t sleep tonight because of this video of mouse horror!

Nah, that’s just funny.  This is actually a pretty good example of a brand going, “Well, we sell cheese, which really isn’t that exiting to talk about, so let’s just have some fun.”  It’s a tough spot to be in when you have products like this and you want to move some cheese off the shelves.  You can sit there and just describe the cheese, maybe the process of making the cheese, recipes that include cheese and so forth, but that has to get old after awhile.

Other brands could learn a lesson here that it is in fact possible to be funny and still stay on message.  It’s an actual joke about the actual product, not just a joke you had laying around that you try and stuff your product into when faced with a tight deadline.

But that would require work and who has time for that, right?

J.

PS – If you go over to YouTube for this video, you’ll see some absolute gems in the comment section… my favorites include:

  • “This is so fake. He prolly had more than just cheese to get THAT strong.”
  • “you can kinda tell the mouse is like a puppet when hes bench lifting…”
  • “this was a waste of a minute and a half of my time ;P you suck”

Think I’ll see if the last guy wants to write for the site…
