Wow, Walmart knows how to do funny?

Published January 25th, 2010

I did over 8 hours of intense research for this site on Sunday… while watching the football games from a sports bar in Hollywood called “happy endings” (yes, the name is the joke, stop snickering).  Right about the time I switched from beer to White Russians, the new commercial from Walmart caught my eye…

To be honest, I laughed so hard I spit up a little (and I’d like to apologize to that blond that was sitting two tables over for the spray, I’m sure that will come out).  Then, I noticed it was from Walmart and I really freaked out.  Not enough to stop drinking, but it did slow me down a tad.

I looked for the ad this morning when I was a little closer to sober and confirmed it really was a Walmart ad and it was just as funny the next day.  Frankly, I didn’t know they had it in them… the brand is simply not known for being funny, and trust me, nothing is funnier than seeing a clown get hurt.

I’ll still never set foot in a Walmart because they treat their employees like crap and their “lowest prices ever” methodology has put more than a few companies out of business, but at least now I know someone over there has a sense of humor…
